Essie - Master Plan

Essie Master Plan
My mom knows how to spoil me. She picks up random polishes that she gets for a good price. Some are great finds, others are fails. She managed to get this Essie for $0.30! A discount grocery store near our home buys overstock items from pharmacies and this is what happens!

Pictured is 2 coats. A light putty/taupe creme.

Precision Oasis Collection

Hi guys! Today I'm bringing you a new brand to the blog! Not necessarily a new brand (they've been in business for 30 years) but they are new to ME, as I have never had access to this brand before.

They have sent me their Oasis Collection in order to review, so here we go. Overall it's quite subdued and hints at fall or autumn in my opinion. In general, I find their bottle design to be appealing and the brush is of standard quality making it easy to get an even application.

Free of Toluene, Formaldehyde, & DBP

The Oasis Collection can be purchased for $5.95 each.

Sandstorm
4 thin coats pictured. A pale beige with yellow undertones. I feel like this is one that can be worn when you need a quiet palate cleanser. Fewer than 4 coats however was slightly streaky. I would recommend allowing for a minute of dry time between coats, this seems to help combat streaks.

Sahara Deserted Me
3 coats pictured. A warm nude with pink undertones. Creme finish.

Been There Dune That
3 coats pictured. Nude/ light taupe color with brown undertones. Creme finish.

Comparing these three side by side,  you can see the difference in the undertones. It seems like it could offer a perfect nude for any skin tone.

Sage
2 coats pictured. Light and muted army green. It also has silver shimmer. No problems with application here. I love this color for the fall.

   You're in De-Nile River
3 coats. It reminds me of chocolate. :)
This one immediately reminded me of OPI You Don't Know Jacques, so a comparison is below.

Comparison with Wet N Wild Wet Cement & You Don't Know Jacques

Scorpion King
2 coats pictured. Perfectly easy application. Charcoal/black with loads of shimmer.

What do you think? Do you have any Precision Lacquers in your stash?

Zoya - FeiFei

This polish had a lot of chatter about it's uniqueness. It's nothing like any other polish in my stash.
Pictured is 2 coats. It could have potentially used a third...
Is it blue? purple? gray? I can't decide! It's just a gorgeous glitter blend!

Disney Dumbo French Tips

Disney's Dumbo! Who can say they didn't love that cute baby elephant? I want to get back into doing more cartoon manicures, so I'm easing back in. These are inspired by his little neck ruffle collar. Then I perched his little hat on my thumb.

Here is the step by step of how to do the ruffle nails. I used China Glaze Recycle, Sally Hansen Insta Dri Rapid Red, and Sinful Colors striper in black. The yellow is acrylic paint.

Sation - Holiday Golightly Collection

The Sation Holiday Golightly Collection is now up on their website for sale. $5 per polish.

First up, Under the Miss-tletoe. Described as "a pearlescent pine green"
A rich blue toned green with fine shimmer. Pictured is 3 coats.

I Love Yule is "a rich, velvety poinsettia red."
Pictured is 2 coats. It's more of a raspberry red, rather than a cherry red.

Let's Mingle & Jingle is "a silver-spangled sapphire blue."
Pictured is 3 coats. A rich blue with 2 sizes of holographic glitter.

Holiday Golightly is "a glistening Robin's egg blue."
Pictured is 3 coats. Basically a Tiffany blue with fine shimmer.
Side by side with China Glaze For Audrey, identical except the shimmer.

Feliz Navi-doll is "an icy crystalline grayish-white."
Pictured is 3 coats. I don't have anything quite like it in my collection.

Stop Scrooging Around is "a gold-sparkled ruby wine."
Pictured is 3 coats. It reminds me of Cult Nails Iconic, but with glitter instead of flakies.
Which ones are your favorites?

Love Letters

When I received the newest set of Bundle Monster plates, I knew I wanted to do this right away.
I started with a base of OPI Skull & Glossbones. Then I stamped using the image plates BM311 & BM323. The stamping polishes I used: Konad Special Black & Nail Art Diva Red

Some of the lettering smudged with my topcoat application, but it kind of adds to the effect of ink and writing.

Maurice's Magnetic Polishes

I love the store Maurice's. It just adorable. Everything is teal, cute, and women's fashion. Mostly they just sell clothes, shoes, & accessories. I've seen that they had nail polish for sale before, but it wasn't anything to write home about. This time they had magnetic polishes. 2 were actually interesting so they made it home with me. $6 per bottle. The bottles do not have any names listed, but they are for sale on the website with names.

"Gray Star" according to the website, actually looks a lot like OPI Not Like the Movies. It has a green/gray/purple duochrome!
What's really cool is that once the magnet is applied, the purple pulls away from the silver.

This is the only picture where I managed to capture the hint of green. You can see it along the edges, that's not just a reflection. ;)

Soooo sparkly.

"Green Star" according to the website.... It's more of a teal in my opinion.

The larger particles are so sparkly!

Each of the polishes comes with a star shaped magnet. The magnet portion pulls off the inner cap with the attached polish brush.
What do you think?

Shimmer Polish - Cindy & Vanessa

I have some fun indie glitters to show you! Indie nail polish makers have been popping up a lot lately, and they all manage to deliver something unique and eye catching. "Shimmer Polish" is no exception. Cindy really knows how to serve up a good glitter bomb! Check out her Etsy shop, her website, or her facebook for more information on purchasing. Or you can always email her directly with your paypal address and the colors you would like to purchase: shimmer484(at)gmail(dot)com

She graciously sent me 10 polishes for review. I chose to break it up into several posts so as to not overwhelm you with pictures. :)

She has named all of the polishes after herself and her closest friends. (Maybe one day she'll have a Leslie!)
First up is Cindy
I am in no way going to be able to describe all of the many different glitters.... Cindy is primarily red with some gold and holographic thrown in the mix. It applied very easily. Glitter polishes can often times be very thick and difficult to apply. Shimmer Polish Cindy went on evenly and this swatch photo is 3 thin coats.

Next up is Vanessa
Vanessa comes off primarily charcoal with hints of red.
Composed of black, silver, red, holographic bits, etc.
Same story..... Applied evenly with 2 coats of this polish. Glitter disperses well across the nail without having to be "placed." The formula was not too thick or too thin. Wonderful!

Cindy of Shimmer Polish has told me that she's made some changes to her formula lately. We all know that the indie polish makers are learning and get better each day, so she's improved her mix to suspend the glitters better. Of the 10 polishes she sent me, 7 of them had sinking glitter. Some worse than others. Not that it makes the polish un-usable or anything though! Just give it a shake and you're good to go. But so you know, she is aware of this issue, and is changing things accordingly.

Peculiar Polish Series - Totoro

It's another Thursday and time for more Peculiar Polish! Nev from Nevorpurify's Nail Art  is helping me out by designing looks that are from different cartoons that may be a bit less traditional. If you have a suggestion for her, just fill out the embedded form at the bottom of the page!
Here's Nev->
"I don't know much about Totoro, but Ron (my fiance) tells me that Totoro is a movie by Hayo Miyazaki where the titular character is a forest spirit who befriends two young girls. Miyazaki is the well respected founded of Studio Ghibli, which is considered to be the best animation studio in Japan and possibly the world.  Totoro became the emblem of their company because of its success. Totoro is to Studio Ghibli as Mickey Mouse is to Disney. It was an honor to paint such an icon on my nails, and I'm thankful and anonymous subscriber suggested these!"
