LTHP Dabbles! My very first #EOTD Post!

Trying new things is always exciting...

Exciting and unnerving! I've been working up the courage to post this for a while.... For some months now I had been toying with the idea of featuring more than just nails on LTHP. Now, I know this blog is called Let them have Polish and all but... I'm a girl, and this girl also loves make-up! Make-up and I had a little fight and we stopped talking for a while but that has changed now. I was intimidated by make-up and color but blogging and being exposed to so many talented ladies left me wanting to give make-up a second chance!
With the encouragement of some lovely ladies in my beauty blog networking groups I started playing with my eye make-up and taking pictures. I'm not great at make-up but that being said... Remember when I first started blogging? I had no idea what I was doing then either so I'm hoping with time and practice my make-up skills will improve as well as my picture taking. Just like I did with my nails. So... Yeah! Here's my first Eye of the day(s) post!
These are all looks that were done early in the morning right before work. I've been thinking of calling this little experiment " Make-up for the working girl". These are VERY basic looks. I always see AMAZING stuff from makeup gurus like Vintage or Tacky, Nikkietutorials and my awesome friend Miss Phyrra so I figured I could feature some "basic" make up for those of us who are still learning :D...

I will go ahead and apologize for the blurr in quite a few of these pictures. I'm still getting the hang of photographing my face. Second lame excuse: I'm taking these pics in the morning right before I leave for work so I'm kind of in a rush lol. I did the pictures in the post in "chronological" order and towards the end of the post the pictures become a bit more clear. I really hope you guys like this post. This was a lot of fun to work on and adding new features to LTHP keeps it fun for me :D! I might start posting full face shots soon... Not quite all comfy with that yet.
I don't really have the time to take notes in the morning of what I am using and where I am placing it but these looks are SO very simple. I don't use high end make up. For the most part I use drugstore make-up. I'm really looking forward to placing some indie orders. I do not use a special primer for my eye shadow (yet). I've been using my Reviva Labs make-up primer on my lid and it seems to work great.

I think some of my favorite eye looks have been in this color combination. I find that when my eyes have been done up in Pinks, Purples and Corals they pop more.

Golden Candle lit Look
This was another look I really loved. I love how simple it is, and yet it is so very flattering. I read somewhere that Golden/ Coppery lit looks like this are winners because they give you a healthy candle lit glow. I kept it very low key this day.

Upper Lid:
Revlon Colorstay Shadow Quad in Neutral Khakis
Maybelline Golden Halo

Lower Lid:
Maybelline Golden Halo
Revlon Neutral Khakis Definer color

Eye liner: Upper L'oreal Intense Liquid Pencil Liner in Brown
Eyebrow: Milani Brow Tint Felt Tip Pen in Deep Brown
Mascara: Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express, Lower Reviva Hypo Mascara

I really enjoyed this look. This is perfect for those lazy days!
I'm sorry I did not take notes of what I used where but as you can see these looks are VERY basic. As I said above: This is my work make-up. If I can do these, anyone can do these :D. I don't use fancy brushes, just a little set I have from EcoTools which gets the job done good enough for me. I realize now just how much I missed playing with makeup. I was intimidated by make-up, I realize now how silly that sounds.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this post! I had a lot of fun putting it together and working on these looks. How lucky am I that my work is flexible about nails and make-up :D!? The perks of working on the beach....

Thank you for stopping by and... Um... Be gentle? loool!
