Art Exhibit - 2013

I entered an art show again this year, this is the one from last year.
This year I did 2 separate and small 6"x6" shadowboxes.
I did put a price on each of $100. So we shall see if someone ends up buying them.... Last years was bought for $500! So fingers crossed!
The show is tonight, I'll be sure to edit this post with an update once it's all over.

5 More Superheroes

I needed to add 5 additional nails to this Superhero set, so here I painted Captain America, The Hulk, Spiderman, X Men, & The Fantastic Four in a similar comic book style.

Here they are pictured as an entire set:

I remembered to stop and take pictures along the way, so hopefully you can follow the lineup if you'd like to recreate. I painted them with a combination of sometimes polish, sometimes acrylic paints.
All of it is freehanded.

Captain America

 The Hulk

 Spiderman

 X-Men, or Professor X

 The Fantastic Four

Superheroes

This is another set of false nails to potentially be my art piece.
I took inspiration from this awesome pinterest find.

The superman S was ridiculously difficult to get just right, but I think it turned out the best!
I think just 5 nails is too few to put in a shadowbox... what are 5 more I could add to this set?

Doctor Who Nail Art

Do you remember my art exhibit project from last year? This one here. Well they've sent out the entry forms for the 2013 show and I've got to come up with something equally stunning but maybe less ambitious?
My idea is to try focusing in on one show/movie and just do a small shadowbox (4"-6"?) So I'm trying to come up with some different ones that will be popular.

I know there are tons of Doctor Who fans out there, I know several in my own personal life. It seems to really have a strong following, and it's heavily requested... So here was my design.
Top to bottom and left to right are:
Iconic scarf, Tardis, Weeping Angel, Union Jack, Sonic Screwdriver
Dalek, Bowtie, Converse Shoes, Galaxy, Fez hat.

I was surprised at which ones were harder than I thought, and which ones came out easier than I expected.
The screwdriver and Dalek were the most frustrating. You also can't see the tassel on the Fez too well from this angle, so it looks like a dog food bowl.

I thought the Weeping Angel would be the hardest, but it turned out the best and the one I'm most proud of! Especially considering when you think of just how small these are. :)

What do you think? Is this idea going to be a hit? Any Whovians out there?
