Dear Muffin

This is a really hard thing for me to do. But I figured, just do it, like ripping off a band-aid....

Dear Muffin,

You were Two when we met you in 2007. I still remember that day we walked into Petsmart, and as usual I insisted we go say "Hi" to the kitties at the shelter. And there you were, alone in a kennel. Your little information card said you were Two, affectionate and just a little anti-social. I remember thinking , "But this is the sweetest kitty I've ever met"! You were excited to play with Daniel and I from behind kennel bars.
I remember thinking "This is the coolest kitty I've ever seen". Your fur was beautiful; long, thick and splattered in brown tones. It was the softest fur I had ever felt! We called you our "Bunny- kitty". You shared a birthday with my mom, which I thought was pretty funny. I remember the day I adopted you, Daniel was out of town. I remember it was December and really close to your birthday. What better gift could I have given this kitty, than to give her a loving home on her very birthday? So I did. Everyone at the shelter was so happy that you were going to a home! You had been at the shelter for over Six months! I remember being so sad when I found out. How?! How could this sweet, adorable kitty have spent so long in a lonely cage at a shelter?!
I remember the day I brought you home, to our first tiny apartment. You were so happy! You fit right in! I remember letting you out of your traveling box and you immediately jumped on our couch and curled up with me. I knew I had made the right choice. You were meant to be with us. A few days later Daniel came home from his work trip and he was so happy to meet you! You were excited to meet him too.
You always had a big personality, you always wanted to be with Daniel and I. Which I loved! I loved having a kitty that was so friendly and pretty. The vets always commented on how pretty you were. And you were! You were the loveliest kitty! Always so poised and well- behaved. You moved with us through Three different houses, and you made each of them a special place to be in. You were so much more than our kitty, you were our buddy, our furbaby! You kept me company for the many years that Daniel was on the road, and I never felt lonely because I had my Muffin.
You were a single-kitty for a looong while. Then we brought you home a friend, Truffle. You seemed skeptical at first, but then you two grew to like each other. It was always so cute to hear the Two of you playing, or play fighting. I was happy to see you had a little friend for when we went on trips. I know she will miss you too.
You may not know it Muffin, but you also had many people who loved you because of mommy's blog. You helped in such a BIG way. To this day I'm sure more people came to this blog on Mondays to see you, than to see my nails. And that was just fine with mommy, because she had the sweetest kitty in all the land who helped her pick her polish. It was our "Monday thing". I know it may sound stupid to some, but it was "our thing". I will miss this greatly. I will miss her chilling with me while I polished.... I will miss her.
There are so many things I will miss about you, my Muffin. You had such a big personality. You were such a loving kitty. We tried so hard to keep you with us. We really did. It broke my heart to see you struggle with your health so greatly. I didn't want to be selfish though, I knew you were suffering.Even as I sit here typing this I still can't face the reality that you are gone, but I must. We will miss you so very much Muffin. You were a fantastic pet, friend and even a cry pillow when I needed it. Daniel and I will never forget you, you are irreplaceable Muffin! I hope you had a very happy life, we tried so very hard to make sure you were always happy and comfortable. You were a great kitty, the best kitty and I will never forget you.
I hope your kitty heaven is full of all the things that you loved! I hope you have a lot of space to run and a lot of things to jump on, you always liked being up high. I also hope you never forget us, because we won't forget you. Even though I hugged and kissed you everyday, it still doesn't feel like enough...
With that, I bring this letter to a close. My heart is heavy, my eyes are sore and I really don't know how to occupy my thoughts at this moment other than with the happy times we all shared together. Muffin, you were SO loved and cared for, I really do hope you knew that. I'm grateful I got to know you and have you in my life. I'm grateful I got to take you away from that crowded shelter and give you the best life possible, but I am so sorry I couldn't save you in the end. You were a fighter kitty, you really were.

We love you Muffin! You left us in good paws, Truffle is a fantastic kitty as well and I hope she knows that for a while, she had the best kitty friend in the whole world!

Don't forget to hug your furbabies today, and every other day.

I also did a look with some of the shades from the Cult Nails In the Garden Collection, for the ladies who do not like textures at all. I hope you guys like these looks! I had a lot of fun working on these.
To find out the details behind these Three looks, just head on over to nailitmag.com. You can also read a short interview [HERE].

I've had a minor setback here (I am also waiting on a middle nail break to grow out)... Ever have something happen to you that makes you feel really old for some reason? So, yesterday.. I was having a coughing fit... and I threw my lower back out  -___-. I mean, REALLY? Who does that? lolol... Who throws their back out from a coughing fit? Anywho, I'm taking it easy and hoping for a speedy recovery because I have lots I want to get done. I am also dying to play with my new Pueen stamping plates!! I have not had a chance to get into those yet, the designs are SO adorable!!

It's my Birthday (and I'll slack if I want to) :D!

LOLOL!

So! It is indeed my birthday today. I am turning 26. I shall keep things short and sweet today, cuz what the title says lol. I decided to spend my day in Two of my favorite colors EVARRRR! I was having trouble deciding between A England Dragon and A England St. George. Then I had an "Old El Paso Moment" and decided, Why not both? lolol
I just did basic alternating nails in St.George (Holo Teal) and Dragon(Sage Green/Gold Holo). I also thought it would be nice to update you on the current status of my nubs. They are coming in nicely and the shapes are finally starting to look somewhat even. After I had the break on my Middle nail, my Index went too :(. So once again, I nubbed them all out. I'm glad they are at least pretty even on length now.

Also, I did some updates on my Let them have Polish You Tube channel last nite! Head on over there to see my makeup stash and storage!

I can't be too bummed out at my nubs when they look so pretty in these Two amazing polishes. A England shall get me through this growth time haha! I'm off to celebrate my 26th B-Day now!!!! I might take tomorrow off depending on how much fun I have today hahahha!

Etsy Mania! Rockstar Nails Punk Rock Barbie and an Update

Good Afternoon and happy Monday,

I wanted to take a second to apologize for my unexplained leave of absence, to those of you who may have noticed, I've not posted since Wednesday of last week. This is unusual for me as I like to/pride myself in having a post up everyday.
Ok, so I think I mentioned this but, not this past Saturday, the one before that I was in the hospital. Well yesterday... I got to spend the day there again. So in the span of 8 days I was in the hospital Twice. I was just starting to feel better from my last fiasco and just like that I was back in the hospital. I really don't want to get into details as to what causes these visits. All I will say is that I would not wish this upon ANYONE, no even my worst enemies. I felt like you guys should know why I disappear randomly. I know you guys will understand and as usual be totally awesome about everything, because after all, my health really does come first. And the sooner I am healthy, the sooner I can get back into my rhythm, not just in blogging, but life in general.
So now that you guys are all caught up, how about a quick swatch of one of my new favorite layering combinations?
So this is Rockstar Nails Punk Rock Barbie over Color Club's Into the Limelight. PRB is a great mix of Black and White hexes, bars and squares accented by larger Pink squares suspended in a clear base. LOOOOOVEE this so hard! One of the best things about this polish is how easy it was to work with. I did Two "coats" there was some dabbing used to place some of the pieces. The base color is probably one of my new favorites shades ever. I will go on about the Color Club shade when I review the Color Club Fall 2012 Collection.
I will also go onto say that this was actually the mani that I was rocking the last Saturday I spent in the hospital and one of the nurses LOVED it. She actually thought they were decals :D. I just LOVE how all the colors pop against my vivid Periwinkle Blue base. They really did look almost fake.

I'm off to get some more rest now. I want you guys to know that I truly do miss blogging when I am not around. I almost get separation anxiety from my blog (creepy, right?). Point being that every time I have to take an unplanned, unannounced break, I feel terrible! But, I know, I know, health comes first.

Miss you guys so much!!!

Cult Nails Deceptive Collection Photoshoot Party #FlBeautyBloggers

Hi loves!!

Today I have some photos from Saturdays photo shoot for Cult Nails' Deceptive Collection. Maria hosted a little get together for the ladies of the #FlBeautyBloggers  and quite a few of us were able to make it out to Cult Nails HQ for a day full of polish, fierce photos and A LOT of fun! These photos are courtesy of our photographers for the day; the amazing Mandy Redfearn and Maria's husband John.
It's not often good pics of me get snapped lol. These are a rarity. The pearls and the dress were Maria's styling. The theme for the photo shoot was the 1920's. So we did a "modern day flapper" thing with my photos. On my nails I wore A England Bridal Veil topped with Cult Nails Charlatan from the Deceptive Collection.

Here are all the girls that came out on Saturday. From L to R: Miss Ali of Nifty Ba!, Miss Brittany of Clumps of Mascara, Miss Courtney of Phyrra.net, Miss Kimberly of Libby's Pink Vanity, Miss Safia of Lipstick Mixtapes and Miss Alyssa of Pretty Little Bottles. Front and center is the beautiful and fierce Maria of Cult Nails and back there with the Red head is yours truly :D.
This post is pretty pic heavy so to see more photos of the fun and find out more about the Deceptive Collection continue reading.

This photo cracks me up. So Safia, getting choked by Maria lol, had a LONG day this day. This was a collab between Lipstick Mixtapes and Cult Nails. Safia is an amazing MUA based in Central Florida and she has her own lipstick line! She did Maria's make-up as well as Kai's styling (Maria's daughter, who is the face of the Deceptive Collection).

Here is a bunch of random group shots. The photographer would count to Three and have us freeze in silly poses. This was SO much fun!

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaailssss! In the largest photo you can see Alyssa's nails in Cruisin Nude topped with Charlatan and accented with studs. Ali, in the stiletto nails, went for Time Traveler and Charlatan and it looks like she went back over with Time Traveler to create a Ruffian look. Courtney went for Let Me Fly topped in Alter Ego. On the bottom right corner picture are my hands and Mandy, the photog's hand. We realized our rings were very similar!

We all got a turn in front of the camera and some beautiful photos were taken so I thought I'd share my favorites with you. This is Miss Alyssa of Pretty Little Bottles.

Miss Courtney of Phyrra.net looking totaly mermaid-y!

Maria in her 1920's look. Can you say "hottest flapper ever"? I mean seriously. Safia really outdid herself with Maria's make-up. I can attest to Maria looking this flawless in person. The dress was true vintage and Maria rocked some McQueen booties that are TO DIE FOR! Maria's nails were done in Cult Nails Nevermore with a Frech style chevron in Two Timer with some Gold square stud accents. Maria's nails were done by me. Yes, I got to work on Maria's nails :D!!

Here is a shot of Kai, Maria's beautiful daughter. She is the face of the collection. I think this gal has a future in modeling... Don't you?

Here is future mamma Clumps :D Miss Brittany holding her baby bump and looking beautiful!

I love this shot of Ali from Nifty Ba! This girl is so much fun but I love how this photo shows a "serious" side to her. Then again she is rocking a "Mona Lisa smile". Just love this!

Here is a shot of the Two colorful-heads :D. Miss Courtney and I. I LOOOOOVE this photo and I love me some Courtney too ♥. Fire and Ice :D.

Jumpy-shots!!!! It's not a photo shoot w/o some silliness!

Some other successful photos of me. Kai and I shared this dress. Maria wanted to see how the pale peach dress would do with my skin tone.

I like this photo because it reminds me of this really old, true vintage photo of one of my grandmothers.   The resemblance is almost creepy. I wish I had a way to show you guys the photo of my grandmother.

The photographer, Mandy, liked my tattoo. My lips were spruced up by Safia, she did all the girls lips in OCC tars Courtney brought for us to play with. Safia mixed up Two different OCC Lip tars. I believe she mixed Strumpet and Anime for my custom, radioactive Berry shade.

John and Maria discussing shots of the day.

Now this was kind of a popular pose for the day. John snapped this shot and I think it's one of the better photos of me, ever(kind of). But it could have been anyone, this is just good photo taking on the photogs part lol.

The sillies!! Whenever we all get together it's a guarantee that good times will be had. I really encourage any and all bloggers to start regional networking groups like the #FLBeautyBloggers. It is such an amazing feeling to hang around like-minded people and talk about things that we all are passionate about.
I always come home on such a high from hanging around these inspiring and beautiful women. The support and love we all give each other is unequaled. I am proud to call all these talented ladies my friends and that would not have been possible had it not been for the formation of this group.

Now for some information about the Deceptive Collection. [HERE] is the official Cult Nails blog post about the collection. The full collection will be released on September 1st and there will be a promotion running from then until September 8th. I will have swatches of these beauties soon! The collection will be available on Cult Nails' shop.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I can't wait for our next get-together. I want to take a second to thank Maria for hosting such a wonderful day. I cannot wait to show you guys the ideas I have for these top coats, there are many!

Thanks for stopping by!!

LTHP Turns Two in Yummy Lime Crime Nails!

LTHP is Two years old today!!!

I really don't wanna do the sappy speech so I'll just thank you for being so AMAZING and keeping me going when even I didn't think I could. Honestly today really did sneak up on me. I had completely forgotten that my blog b-day was coming up so I didn't even get a chance to do "special" nails. But I did do these nails featuring Lime Crime brand new Nail Polish Collection Les Desserts d' Antoinette and they just seemed so fitting for the occasion.
This look features all Seven colors in the collection. I started with a base of Milky Ways. On my Index and Pinkie fingers I did some gradients using Milky Ways, Once in a Blue Mousse and  Lavendairy. On my Middle nail I did a gradient using Milky Ways, Parfait Day and  Peaches♥Creme. On my Ring finger I did a gradient using Milky Ways, Crema de Limon, and Pastelchio. I topped these off with some Seche Vite followed by some INm Northern Lights.
I wanted to create like a parfait nail kind of effect, or cotton candy, my husband mentioned they reminded him of swirly sorbet. Whatever they look like, it's absolutely yummy! I had actually taken this look further by stamping and adding freehand touches. It was in those touches that I unintentionally ruined my manicure so I opted so just show you my pretty gradients instead.
I have many more looks planned for these. The formula on these colors is just amazing for all kinds of nail art techniques. I also love that all the colors compliment each other perfectly and deliciously. I mean when I look at these I can't wear just one.

Here is a swatch of my base color Milky Ways. I was pretty much amazed at how perfect the formula is on this shade. From the first brushstroke it was a dream to work with. It's not a stark White and not chalky.  I only needed Two coats for full, even coverage. I love the brush on these polishes and the cute little frosted bottles that don't show finger prints... Ahhh the little things... I'm pretty much obsessed with this shade. It's a different type of White, slightly creamy, maybe just a drop of Orange? I can't place it but I LOVE it. I have a thing for a clean White nail and I can see myself wearing this one quite a lot.
Thank you all for your support and stopping by to see what I'm up to and read my ramblings sometimes :D! I know I'll be doing this for quite some time to come!

Happy Sunday and again THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

LTHP Dabbles! Nail Polish Jewelry Fun!

Hi lovely readers!

I know today is a challenge day and I had fully intended to have that post up later today but my body had other plans. I still might do it later on depending on how I feel. If I do not post it today I will still be doing day Seven whenever we post our next challenge day.

Instead, today I will be showing you some nail polish rings and earrings I made over the past few weeks. After I saw [THIS TUTORIAL] by Rebecca I was bit by the crafty bug and just had to place an Etsy order for some cabochons and bases :D. These are fun to make for friends and the gals in my family. I made my bestie a ring out of butterLONDON Snog and Pretty and Polished Valentino but I forgot to snap a pic before I sent it her way. It was awesome!
To see close up shots of these just continue reading.

I dont plan on selling. There are soo many talented ladies out there that can do this so much better than I. And I just plain don't have the time lool! They are so much fun to make though!
These are all 18x25mm Oval rings with painted clear glass cabchons. From L to R: Candeo Colors Orchid, China Glaze Luxe & Lush, Midtown Magic, Candeo Colors Dolce, O.P.I Pink Friday.

The ring below is the same size as the ones above and it is done in Daring Digits Master Shake with a backing of CG White Cap.

The rings below are 25mm Round clear glass painted cabochons.
Above from L to R: The Hungry Asian Sea Creature, CG Emerald Sparkle, Bettina Peace, Boogie, Hot Pants, Hustle swirl with a Black Backing.

The rings below are the same size as the ones above.
This ring is made out of All That Glitters Very Peacock-Ish and O.P.I Catch me in your Net.

The earrings below are all 10mm painted clear glass cabochons.
From L to R: Candeo Orchid, Revlon Whimsical with a Chick NP All A Twitter backing, DL Boom Boom Pow with a CG Midnight Kiss backing.

Back to the rings!
The one on my left I made for my M-I-L and it is Zoya Chloe and Jem. The ring on the right is for the lovely Brittany at Clumps of Mascara and it is Cult Nails Seduction and Revlon Royal.

The ring below is made out of a franken- fail. Your truly is not very good at the art of creating polishes from raw materials. This looks amazing in the ring but over night the bottle managed to settle into a disgusting mess :(. I'm glad at least it gets to live on through this pretty ring.
These are so fun to work on!!!

**EDIT** Here is a pic of the ring that I made for the Bestie. She sent a pic over :D**
