Maurice's Magnetic Polishes

I love the store Maurice's. It just adorable. Everything is teal, cute, and women's fashion. Mostly they just sell clothes, shoes, & accessories. I've seen that they had nail polish for sale before, but it wasn't anything to write home about. This time they had magnetic polishes. 2 were actually interesting so they made it home with me. $6 per bottle. The bottles do not have any names listed, but they are for sale on the website with names.

"Gray Star" according to the website, actually looks a lot like OPI Not Like the Movies. It has a green/gray/purple duochrome!
What's really cool is that once the magnet is applied, the purple pulls away from the silver.

This is the only picture where I managed to capture the hint of green. You can see it along the edges, that's not just a reflection. ;)

Soooo sparkly.

"Green Star" according to the website.... It's more of a teal in my opinion.

The larger particles are so sparkly!

Each of the polishes comes with a star shaped magnet. The magnet portion pulls off the inner cap with the attached polish brush.
What do you think?

A Quick Swatch and a Huge Thanks

Hi lovely readers,

When I was typing up yesterday's post I never expected to get the reaction I did from you guys. I want to tell you all from the very bottom of my heart how much your kind words mean to me. Your support and your stories really touched me. I received so many emails from so many of you with the nicest comments ever and I could not help but to feel better. How could I not? To know so many people care in your own way is an overwhelming feeling. You all remind me why I stay strong and why I fight every day. Yesterday's feedback reminded me why it is that I do what I do for this blog. All the hard work that sometimes feels like too much is really worth it.
Yesterday was a particularly rough day and I felt like it was finally time for you guys to know me as I really am and not just my nails (and now eyes). I feel like by opening up to my readers about my struggles it actually took so much pressure off my shoulders. As silly as it may sound blogging about nail polish really does make me feel good about myself. I take a lot of pride in my blog. So many of you told me that coming here brings a little bit of joy to your day. Who am I to take that away from you guys? A lot of you shared your very own struggles to let me know I am not alone and I could not appreciate that more. We all know we are not alone but it can really feel that way when you are struggling with depression. You all have my deepest most heartfelt gratitude for being so supportive. To me... A total stranger. You guys may not realize it but your words really do mean so much to me. I urge any and all of my readers who are struggling with depression and anxiety to please talk to someone about it. A friend, a relative, your doctor.... Your entire blog following... Someone! Please don't hold anything in because IT DOES NOT HELP!

With that in mind I've decided to show you guys a swatch of a recent CVS purchase. Green is the color of depression awareness, it only seemed fitting that I post this beautiful polish today.
This is Sally Hansen Electric Emerald. This color comes from SH's magnetic polish line. This is probably my most beautiful magnetic polish. I have ICING's Green magnetic but that one leans much more Golden. I love this one because it is a true Emerald Green. The magnetic effect creates waves in a lighter Green. For this manicure I applied one coat of color and on the Second pass I used the magnet. This color has a great formula and it pretty much applies itself. Big win for me.
Thank you all so much! Tomorrow is Mr. LTHP's B-day so we will be out and about celebrating and having a good time. Repti-Con is in Tampa this weekend and we love to see all the awesome reptiles they bring to these shows. I decided I will be taking a little break but I will be doing some scheduled posts since I have SO MUCH material to show you guys. It will be a little mental vacation. I will be seeing my doctor soon and start incorporating some form of exercise into my daily routine. I have a lot to stay well for...

So again I say.. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for your kindness and your advice and your loving words. I don't think I will ever be able to communicate to you all how much this all means to me.

China Glaze Magnetix - Instant Chemistry & Drawn to You

I bought just 2 of the new China Glaze Magnetix polishes, because as neat as they are... I'm kind of over the hype already. : / I don't see the point of having 3 different brown colored magnetic polishes. So I just bought 2 different purples.

Instant Chemistry here is more of a burgundy. This is 2 coats.

Then I just wanted to see the effect using another side of the China Glaze magnet, and this design didn't come out straight at all. And it really waivered and messed up on the middle nail.

This is the magnet of course, it's a little smaller than I anticipated. But really easy to work with.

Drawn to You, this one is definitely my favorite. 2 coats.

It looks so cool up close and from a distance!

China Glaze Drawn to You- Magnetic Polish

Happy Caturday!!

Today I will be showing you last Saturday's mani :D. I really like the magnetic polish trend but I really want to see different colors being done. It seems everyone is released the same shades.... But this particular color from China Glaze's Magnetix Collection caught my eye because it is just a little different from the other magnetic shades I've seen out there.
Drawn To You is a dusty Purple magnetic polish. The formula on this color is very dense and if you're in a rush you could very easily get away with one coat. I did Two coats. First I did my "base" color coat and did the magnet part on the Second coat to make sure it was all even and covered. I used the diagonal stripe design magnet from the China Glaze 3/magnet- magnet lol. I was kinda let down with the CG magnet. It seems a little weak, no?
Regardless of the weak magnet I still really like this polish and the effect it creates.

Happy St. Paddy's!!

Magnetix Polish - Blue & Green

These Magnetix polishes can be found at Rite Aid. I went in looking for something else and couldn't resist buying these two. They were $7.99 each. Each polish comes in it's own little plastic box with 2 different magnets in the box. A black one that creates curvy lines and a red one that creates diagonal lines.
I couldn't find a name on the box or the bottle's label, so I'll just call them blue and green. Aren't they just awesome?! The blue is a nice medium blue that reacts to the magnet to show a navy/blurple color. The green was pleasantly surprising because it reacted to the magnet by showing a deeper emerald color than that in the bottle. Truly lovely. :)

The magnets are easy to use. The magnet is a thin strip enclosed by a flexibile silicone material. The silicone has a notch cut out to fit the curve of your finger. I found it easiest to rest that notch directly on my finger just beyond my nail bed. You hold it steady for 10-15 seconds and the reaction happens.

A close up of each color and the different magnet patterns.

What do you think of these? Have you found them in your local area? I really like the concept of magnetic polishes and the quick nail art that they provide. And I certainly can't wait to get my hands on the starburst magnet in the China Glaze magnetic collection!

ICING Magnetix Blue-Purple

Good Morning loves!

Today I have for you the second magnetic polish I picked up while I was at ICING this past weekend. This one is the amazing Blue to Purple duochrome magnetic shimmer. This one is quite spectacular. For today's magnetic look I used the wavy design magnet. I got lucky and ended up with one of each kind of magnet. The straight line effect and the wavy line effect magnets. I really like how the Blue looks in the wavy design so I went with that one. These are so much freakin fun!!
You HAVE to see all the other pics I took of this! Click it!!

Yuumm!!! This looks like waves. My mom has a ring with a Blue gemstone. It is an amazing ring. The blue gemstone is called the Blue Hope Star or something like that. The effect in the stone is similar to this. It's just amazing. This was Two coats of Blue magnetic. I'll just let the pics do the talking now....

Remember this pic style?!! It shows the effect soo well in this amazing polish!
Just awesome!! That.Is.All!

Do u totally want these now?

Muffin Monday!! ICING Magnetix Gold- Green

Good Morning my loves!

Today is a new day! I have something sooo cool to show you today. This is really Muffin's pick. What happened to the picture you ask? Well my butt forgot I had the picture in my camera still and I accidentally deleted ALL the pictures.... Her choices were Lynderella's Love Potion No. 99, Mercurial and ICING's Blue/Purple, Green/ Gold Magnetix. I was very excited for her to pick ANY of those because they are all incredible polishes in their own rights.

So instead of a pic of Muffin making her pick, I have a picture of Muffin and Truffle's new spot. They literally take turns in it! :D It is too cute for words... So here is this...
To see some AWESOME AWESOMENESS just keep reading!

So this collection just hit ICING stores. I'm not lucky enough to have an ICING store near me so whenever I take the drive to a mall that has one I make a point of it to stop by. I must admit I was no feeling very optimistic about finding these when I went in because it never seems I have much luck. But.... THERE they were! They only had One of each color and they were right by the cash registers. I only picked up two( I STRONGLY regret not getting all Four). See... These pretties are only $9 and on top of that they were buy One get One Half off. So it was a pretty sweet deal and I realized much too late that I could have gotten Four GREAT magnetic polishes for $27... Which would've been the price of about Two Nails Inc. Magnetic polish at Sephora. I felt kinda dumb... I should have gotten all Four... :(
These are not named :(. This looks like a Tiger's Eye gemstone doesn't it? So I'm going to call it Tiger's Eye. It's an Olive- Gold magnetic where the magnetic particles are the Golden part. To apply these I put down one base coat of this color without placing the magnet on top. I did the magnet portion on the Second coat. I LOVE this. I have not been this amused by a polish in a very long time. The formula is pretty good on these, I have no complaints. The brush was a bit weird but I managed to work around it. This is just beautiful! When first applied it looks a bit weird in color but when the magnet portion is done the true beauty if this polish can be appreciated.
The best part about these to me is that the effect is like a little surprise every time you wear them. They are just so much fun. Now, set aside some time to apply these because you have to do one nail at a time and it's not a suuuper quick process. It is, however, VERY fun! These come with Two different types of magnet toppers. Some create a straight line effect like seen here and some a wavy line. The best way to find out what is what is by holding the magnet up to the bottle and seeing how the lines come out. Check out Jen's post to learn more about the different magnets.

These are Awesome. End of story! :D!!
