Disney Cars - Mater

I couldn't do the movie Cars without featuring Mater! He's my favorite character from the movie!

I really like the plain nails that mimic the rusty antique metal.

 

Here's how I did it.

Paint nails with 2 coats of Essie Very Structured

Randomly sponge on Barielle Coco Bar, Zoya Dea, Essie Penny Talk, & Barielle Sweet Addiction.

Begin the outline for his eyes and mouth with black acrylic paint.

White acrylic paint.

I used a shimmery green matte polish for his eyes iris'. Then defined his back teeth with gray acrylic paint.

Add black pupils and a white shine spot, then topcoat the whole thing with Seche Vite.

Cloudy Day Tutorial

 Here is a gradient + stamping nail art design. 

I started with Zoya Kristen, painting my nails with one coat. 

Then I sponged on a gradient of Zoya Kristen, China Glaze Electric Beat, Sinful Colors Rainstorm, & Barielle Berry Blue. Cleaned up the cuticle areas, then stamped BM-312 with Konad Special White Polish.

Then Seche Vite topcoat.

Born Pretty - Glequin Polka Dots

Light purple "glequins" from the Born Pretty Store. They can be found here for $1.99.
You can never go wrong with glitter... and this many for <$2? It's a steal. I'm pleased as can be with them.

I painted 2 coats of Barielle Expressive and then while a coat of Seche Vite topcoat was still wet, I individually placed the glitter pieces.

Adorable, right? And so much easier than trying to stack them up and cover the entire nail with solid glequins... I can never seem to get that style perfectly straight.

French Batman

My Disney Princess French Tip nail art series has proved to be quite popular, especially on Pinterest. (Ariel, Aurora, Jasmine, Cinderella, Snow White, Pocahontas)

 

After my most recent Superheroes nail art I was inspired to try the same thing, but with comic book characters. So first up is a Batman inspired french nail art design.

 

 

 

Tutorial anyone?

 

1. (Should probably apply a base coat and let it dry, which I didn't do here.)

Tape off your tips and paint them with yellow polish. I used Barielle Lemondrops.

 

2. Freehand a small black line along the bottom of the french. I used Kiss Nail Art Striper in black.

 

3. You could be daring a freehand the Batman symbol on an accent nail, but I chose to take the easy route and stamp the bats from the BM13 plate. (I double stamped one of the guys)

 

4. My guys didn't transfer terribly well... probably because it was on my naked nail, so I took my same striper polish in black and darkened them up a bit.

 

5. Allow enough time for your black polish to dry before applying a thick coat of Seche Vite. (Otherwise you'll potentially drag in some places like mine did)

Fuzzy Flocked Nails

Another item up for review from Born Pretty is this flocking powder, found here for $5.80.

I wanted to try out the royal blue color.

 I'm sorry, I should have taken better care to brush off all of the little blue bits on my fingers.... But in my defense, I thought I'd cleaned them off good until I looked at my pictures in macro mode... And by then it was too late to redo.

 I just painted my nails with 2 coats of Barielle Berry Blue, applied a layer of topcoat. While the topcoat was still wet, I sprinkled the flocking powder over it and lightly pressed down. Then used a large fan brush to remove (most of) the excess.

The container is pretty large, you can get MANY uses out it.

 When you open it, a mess ensues, so beware.

Houndstooth Trimmed

I recently revamped some black metal folding chairs to be utterly awesome. I took the seats off and stapled houndstooth fabric onto them. Then I spray painted the frames to be cute bright colors. This is a picture from my iphone, it's not really color accurate. They are pastel green, tiffany teal, medium pink, and butter yellow.

So this nail art combination was inspired by my new chairs!

I started with 3 coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I used a coat of Seche Vite to thoroughly dry it.

I then stamped Konad Black Special Polish and Konad m63 image plate. It doesn't have to be perfect...

Because then I took Barielle Do Unto Others and a thin striper brush to carefully freehand the rims.

A Teal Bouquet

This is the most infuriating polish to photograph! I just cannot get color accurate pictures for you guys. I'm sorry. My previous use of it here is slightly better, but still not entirely accurate. :(

This is 2 coats with an accent nail of Milani Jewel FX Teal.

Dusty Pink Ombre

This is my favorite shade of pink to wear. I like the certain "dusty" & vintage feel of these pinks. I wanted to ombre with them because 4 of them were polishes by themselves! Only one nail did I have to mix for the right shade.

Pineapple Nails

I copied these from this design from A Girl and Her Polish I found through Pinterest. I thought they were adorable! I know some areas are transitioning into the fall season already, but it's still very hot here in Louisiana. Summery nail art still applies! :)

Cute, right?! Here is how I did it:

Started with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta Dri Lightening

1 coat of Sation Sunset Silk.

This polish is mostly sheer on it's own, so 1 coat over bright yellow just added a bit of orange shimmer.

Then I stamped BM-310 with Barielle Coco Bar. I didn't care that it wasn't perfect. I missed some near the cuticle, but that's where the leaves are going to go...

Base of the leaves with Kiss Nail Art Striper in white.

Freehanded some Sinful Colors Exotic Green over the white leaves. (This green is also sheer and I didn't want it to take on a yellow tone, hence the white base)

Some darker shadows added to the leaves with OPI Jade is The New Black.

Then I added some highlights to the leaves with China Glaze Refresh Mint.

(I wish I had stopped before this step lol. I think the green is too light.)
