Bonkers Nail Art

Another cartoon look. This one is lesser known, but I remember being a fan.
It aired from 1993-1995 on the Disney Channel.
From wikipedia - "The premise of the series was that Bonkers D. Bobcat, an anthropomorphic bobcat who was a popular cartoon star had washed out of show business and became a cop. He was made the junior partner of Detective Lucky Piquel, a grim and ill-tempered human who hates toons. Throughout the series, the pair work together to solve crimes in the Hollywood, Los Angeles, California region. Bonkers repeatedly tried to win Piquel's praise, but usually just ended up ruining missions with his antics."

I painted Bonker's face on my thumb nail, then my ring nail is an outline of a police shield with the logo name across it. Polishes used - Orly Snowcone, Shimmer Polish Maria, OPI Honey Ryder, & Kiss Nail Art Striper in black. All the rest are acrylic paints.

The One That Copied Lexi From FingerPainted

Sometimes something comes along that just really intrigues you.... This has been the case for me and Lexi's baby stiletto nail shape. I just adore them. I think it looks so cute on her, and besides I LOVE pretty much all the nail art she has ever done. The girl has some mad skills. ;)

My nails were getting too long and to the point where I wanted to give them a big chop.... So it struck me to do an experiment. I wondered if my nails could do a baby stiletto too? Lexi mentioned once that she does a thin layer of gel polish over hers to reinforce them and help prevent breaking the tips. I thought that mine cut to this shape without gel might just last a day or two, but enough to tribute some nail art to one I admire. Surprisingly, as I type this, I'm 4 days in and several polish changes later, still with intact tips! I guess it's the Duri Rejuvacote I have to thank for that. The stuff makes my nails rock solid.
I copied this simple bow nail art she did because I had the same base polish, Shimmer Alessandra. Acrylic paints for the bow.

First impression: I'm not too fond of this nail shape on myself. I think it's more flattering on Lexi's nail bed shape. HOWEVER, I've vowed to give it a good run and not just rush to that decision. I'm going to leave them this shape for at least a week or two to really feel it out. Wish me luck!

The minute I realized that Cindy sent me Irene, I knew I would be recreating this look from Wacky Laki. I loved her idea from the first glance I had of it.

Here is a bottle shot of Irene and a simple swatch of one coat layered over Zoya Farah.

I used the same image plate as Anutka, Mash40. The square studs are from this stud wheel sold at Born Pretty. I just put them in this different container. The white pencil thing is actually pretty awesome. It's a rhinestone picker-upper-thingy. It's center is a waxy material, so it gives you just enough grab onto the rhinestones to position them and it releases easily.

The handy dandy rhinestone picker upper thingy is sold here at Born Pretty for $1.99 (for 2 pencils)
They came like this and I just used a standard pencil sharpener that I had in my office to get the point pictured above.

Here is a quick and poor quality (sorry) video to demonstrate just how easily it works.

It works just as well on large rhinestones or decorative items like these big bows.
(Also a Born Pretty product 10pcs for $3.99)

Tammy is mainly purple, silver, gold, & black. I really like that it has an interesting mix with some bar glitter too. Here I layered one coat of Tammy over Rimmel I Lilac You.

Candace has gold holo pieces and tiny black glitter. Here I layered one coat of Candace over Zoya Ziv.

Alessandra is described as a coral red. It has a finer mix of glitters with mostly red, but some turquoise bits.
Here I layered 1 coat of Alessandra over Orly Haute Red.

Katie gave me a bit of trouble. I think it's just not my favorite color combination. Or maybe a bad pairing for base polish? It was a bit thicker, and one coat wouldn't spread evenly, so I just built up 2 coats for (close to) full opacity. I applied it over Orly Decades of Dysfunction. It's difficult to describe the color too.... Overall drab, like an old penny or something.... a lot of light copper & some light green bits.

Julie is a crazy mix of all different colors, but a heavier concentration of purple and silver. Here I paired 1 coat of Julie over China Glaze Spontaneous.

Sarah is described as a tropical green/blue combination.
Here I layered 1 coat of Sarah over Sinful Colors Rainstorm

Vivian is a antique, dusty pink mix. I layered 1 coat of Vivian over Orly Lollipop

Cindy always does a great job at mixing unique glitter combinations. There is obviously a lot of planning that goes into these beautiful polishes and I wish her all the success possible!
