Hard Candy- Candy Sprinkles Skittle Nails

(**Press Sample**)
Good afternoon!

Today I have a sweet skittle mani I did using some of my new Hard Candy nail polish shades. These are all from the Candy Sprinkles collection. As you can see, these cuties are heavily inspired by the "glitter sammich" concept. This group is made up of Nine creamy-glitter polishes. Today I am sharing a cute skittle mani with Five of these pretties.
From thumb to Pinkie:
Gummy Green: A creamy-jelly, muted Mint-colored base, with Silver and Black small hexagonal glitter. This particular shade had one of the better formulas. I used Three thin coats for full coverage and to get a really good "mint-chip ice cream" effect going on.
Pixie Pink: A creamy-jelly, light milky Blue-Based Pink. The small hexagonal glitters in this one are Teal, Silver and Pink. I used Three thin coats. The formula on this shade was nice and easy to work with.
Sweet Tooth: A jelly, almost White pink packed with Blue, Pink and Silver glitter. This was the most sheer of all the colors I tried. I used Three decent coats but the formula was great and easy to work with.
Jelly Bean Blue: A creamy base, Powdery Blue packed with Blue and Black glitter. I found the  formula on this shade to be patchy and a little problematic. A light and patient hand is key with shades like this one. I used Three coats.
Sugar Rush: A white creamy base packed full of Black and Silver glitter. I had the same formula issues with this shade as I did with Jelly Bean Blue. Three coats as well.
Below are some macros of these yummy looking polishes.
Even though the formulas are kind of.. all over the place... I really am not bothered by that and really ended up loving these polishes. I'm glad that an affordable polish line came out with these "speckled/ sprinkled" polishes. These all seemed to even out well at Three coats and they all wore really well. I think I had these on for about Four days, no chips, no shirnkage. Before application it is best to give these polishes a good shake, they like to settle a bit. These babies to require a good top coat to bring out the shine and smooth the surface. I used Two coats of KBShimmer Clearly on Top top coat and I had absolutely ZERO shrinkage (YAYAYAYAY Praise the polish gods).

Have you tried any of these new Hard Candy polishes? They are available at Wal-Mart and Online as well. For the price, these are adorable little polishes and I really love what hard Candy did with the glitter-sammich looks. I like all of these quite a lot ♥.

Any faves?

Hunger Games Nail Art

I'm not entirely sure when I'll be able to see the Hunger Games movie in theaters, but I'm excited about it! I thought the books were fantastic, and the movies look like they will be amazing! So here is some Hunger Games Nail Art in honor of the movie's release.
Before you read further, here is a disclaimer: This nail art was accomplished after a very long day. I had been awake since 5am and worked a 12 hour shift. I finished these nails at 9:30pm but my brain was fried and running off diet coke only, so I apologize in advance that they are not more perfect. Lol

My left hand ring finger features the "Mockingjay." Yes mine looks a bit wonky and inbred, but whatever....
The other nails are China Glaze Stone Cold from what else? But the Hunger Games collection.

My right hand ring finger features some flame nail art because by now you might have heard.... In the book, Katniss' nails are painted with flame nail art for the opening ceremonies of the Hunger Games.

I'll show the exact polishes I used below, but I topped the flames with Essie Shine of the Times because those flakies have always made me think of fire embers. It was difficult to capture in a picture, but it really adds a special touch.

Polishes used:
Sinful Colors Black on Black
China Glaze Stone Cold
Color Club Gingerbread Man

for the flames:
China Glaze In Awe of Amber
Hard Candy Lava
Sinful Colors Let's Meet
(not pictured Essie Shine of the Times)
Happy Hunger Games Everyone!
Just on a side note, I'm considering buying this shirt. It's hilarious.

Muffin Monday!! Viridian Vinyl

Good Morning loves and happy Muffin Monday!!

Today I limited Muffin's picks to Orly colors. I feel like I don't give Orly enough love. I also feel like out of all the big brand name brands Orly "Wow's" me the least. I don't know what it is but their colors just feel tired to me. It seems like once in every collection they have a really amazing color and the rest are just ok, to me. I really like their "specialty" collections like the Cosmic FX and the more recent Mineral FX collections. The pretty Muffin picked today comes from their Plastix Collection.

I remember this color being one of my very first lemmings. I could not go on without having this color in my collection and I searched high and low until I found it, that was an awesome day. I could go on and on about my feelings on my older polishes back from when I first started blogging, but this could turn into a very long post. I love being able to look back at colors fondly now hahahah!!
To see Muffin's pick in action just keep reading.

For this look I got to play with a brand new plate that comes from Brazil. I will be doing a full review on it soon but for now please enjoy these SUPER cute stamps. You can check out some sneak peeks of the plate on my Facebook. Just click the Facebook button on the right hand side bar.
So for this look I started with two Thin coats of Viridian Vinyl. Then I applied a coat of Seche Vite to make sure it was really dry before stamping. I stamped using the Brazilian plate DRK-A. Why, yes... Those are the cuttest little stamps you've ever seen! OMG Kittehs playing with Butterflies?!! And little paws!! And cute little doodleflies! Just too much cuteness. I finished it off with Two coats of Hard Candy Mattely In love to give it a Chalkboard look. I love these... End.of.story!

Here is a swatch of Orly's Viridian Vinyl in its original form. The finish on this color is just so cool and the color itself is very pretty as well!

Too freaking cute right? This color is really unique and I think not too easy to find anymore. I'm not sure. I only see the Plastix in random places now. .. Hhhmmm...

What do you guys think?

Live Long & Prosper!

That's right! Star Trek Nail Art featuring Spock!
I'm not a trekkie by any means, but my dad has always liked the series. I liked the most recent movie simply because of the eye candy....
Here, I couldn't resist doing the Vulcan hand salute. ;)

I used Hard Candy Wicked for the black nails. Then Sinful Colors Snow Me White on the accent nails. Black acrylic paint for the emblem and face of Spock.

My research tells me that this symbol was their badge on the uniform. It identified them as members of the Enterprise in the 23rd century (the symbol changed slightly throughout the series). The star burst signifies a command position.

Then Spock's face! I'm so proud of this because it's the first time I've successfully been able to paint a face that's not a cartoon! And you can recognize it! I patted myself on the back for this one. :) I hope you like it too!

31 Day Challenge! Day 25- Inspired by Fashion

Hi darlings!!

First thing is first: A BIG Happy Birthday to my bestest friend EVER!! Miss Lizy!! I love you and I can't wait to see you in a few weeks!!! ♥

Today's challenge task is a really fun one. The list called for nails inspired by fashion. I immediately knew what I wanted to use as my inspiration. I used to be really big into Project Runway and the last season I remember had one of my favorite contestants ever, besides Christian Siriano that is. I am speaking of Mondo Guerra. His work is unique and colorful. I also love his play with colors and patterns. The dress I chose was from what should have been his Project Runway winning collection.
I love the crap out of this dress! I would wear it any day lol!

For this look I started with Three coats of Maybelline Colorama in Cupid's Wing. Then I dotted in Zoya Raven in varying sizes in a random pattern. Once that was dry I used strips of tape I had cut with a wavy craft scissor and did the Black corners in the wavy pattern to simulate the side panels of the dress. I intentionally inverted the colors of the Polka dots to have a bit more contrast. I topped it all off with a two coats of Hard Candy Matte-ly in Love.

These are fun and funky and I think Mondo would be proud! <3 Don't forget to check out Sam and Rie's blogs to see their Fashion nails!

31 Day Challenge! Day 21- Nails Inspired by a Color

Hi and happy Sunday!!

Today's task was quite the vague one... Inspired by a color? What does that even mean lol? I guess anything I want it to mean, right? Instead of being inspired by a color, I was inspired by a color scheme. When I think of Pink, I usually also put White and Black together with it. IDK why but I LOVE Black, Pink and White together. I could probably work in that color scheme for the rest of my blogging days and I would be happy. So for today's challenge I went with my favorite color scheme Black, White and Pink in a fun Mod design.
So I kept it pretty simple with the whole "circle within circle" thing. I really love simple yet eye- catching designs like this one. I started with a base of Jordana's Pink Bunny. Then with my largest Born Pretty Store dotting tool I added some Black dots using Bettina Onix. Using the smallest dotting tool in the set I then went back and dotted the center of the Black dots with China Glaze White on White. I also decided to spice it up a little bit my mattifying the look with two coats of Hard Candy's Matte-ly in Love.

I'm loving this look matte! Don't forget to check out Sam and Rie's blogs to see their Color inspired nails!

Thanks for stopping by!!
